Prent Corp. (Janesville, WI), a supplier of custom thermoformed packaging, is constructing a 45,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico. Scheduled to be operational in Q4 of 2018, the facility will meet growing regional demand for medical packaging while strengthening a global footprint that supports the medical, electronics and consumer industries, said Prent.

The ISO 9001–certified plant features a Class 7 cleanroom environment. As part of Prent’s vertical integration strategy, the Tijuana facility will access Prent’s global package design teams and tool build facilities. This ensures consistent, high-quality performance in Tijuana while enabling Prent to confidently lower customers’ risks, simplify tool transfers and meet the medical industry’s high standards of excellence.

Prent designs and manufactures custom trays, totes, clamshells and automation totes for nearly every major medical OEM in North America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean, according to the company. “The addition of our 11th manufacturing facility is a key strategic initiative for the company,” said Pregont.

Headquartered in Janesville, WI, the company has additional manufacturing facilities in Arizona, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Malaysia and Puerto Rico. The company has received an unprecedented 16 WorldStar medical packaging awards.
